***The deadline for quilt entries has been extended to March 15, 2017***
Whether you are a new or returning quilter, you will find a wonderful selection of classes and lectures offered at the 24th annual Minot Prairie Quilt Festival on March 24, 25 and 26, 2017. “BEE a Quilter, it’s all the BUZZ!” by signing up for classes or lectures. Or simply get inspired by viewing the many quilts on display. Our vendors have outdone themselves so please feel free to contact them if you need an item for your classes. Remember it is only $3.00 to shop our merchant’s mall and view the quilt show but is FREE to our registrants. Quilts by our national teachers are on display as well as our challenge quilts with the theme, “BEE a Quilter, it’s all the BUZZ!”
This year we are excited to welcome Susan K. Cleveland from West Concord, MN and Laura Wasilowski from Elgin, IL as our national teachers. Susan brings enthusiasm to her classrooms. Her quilts have received many awards in international competitions. Susan was named MN Quilter of the Year in 2010. She invented the Groovin’ Piping Trimming Tool and will teach this at our Festival.
Laura is a fabulous textile artist, author, teacher, and creator of hand dyed fabrics and thread. She is the owner of ARTFABRIK. Her classes will inspire you to be bold, creative and use very vivid fabrics to tell a story. Doesn’t this sound like FUN!
Our featured quilter for 2017 is Pam Abrahamson, a long standing member of the Minot Prairie Quilter’s. Pam joined our guild in 1998. Please stop by her display of quilts in the vendor’s mall and congratulate her on this honor. She will be our special guest at this year’s banquet.
Finally, be sure to mark your calendar for next year’s Festival, March 16-18, 2018 featuring Shelly Burge and Ann S. Lainhart. Shelly Burge is an award winning quilter, author, teacher and NQA certified judge. Check out her website at: www.shellyburge.com to read about the numerous awards this lady has won, to get a peek at her studio, and about her love for antique sewing machines. Ann S. Lainhart has been quilting since 1978 and teaching since 1987. She considers herself a contemporary traditionalist quilter. Ann is from Massachusetts and has had articles in the magazine, American Quilter. Check out her patterns and quilts at www.quiltedgallery.com
Thank you for joining us this year; it’s been our pleasure to bring this Festival to you. See you next year!
