#101 "Simple Simon" - Mark Lipinski (National Teacher)
1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and continued from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
$65.00 Class Size: 30 Skill Level: Beginner

There is just about no quilt that comes together faster than these quick-to-piece Simple Simon blocks. The best part is that using this pattern's method of cutting and piecing you will learn ways to create up to 70 different unique quilt designs using the two simple blocks! After taking the class, you'll be able to transform every quilt block that you come across in a book, magazine or pattern into your very own creation! Frankly, you'll never look at a quilt block the same again! Plus, even a quilter without a whole lot of piecing experience will be able to create a queen sized quilt in just about the same amount of time as piecing a run-of-the-mill crib size quilt! That's why the Simple Simon is the perfect quilt to make to give to a friend or family member as a token of your affection and good wishes.

Now don't go looking online for a finished Simple Simon. I guess you can but you'll be defeating the purpose of the whole lesson. This is a class that will challenge your creative spirit and teach you how to turn any hum drum, run-of-the-mill pattern into something unique and totally yours.

$40.00 Class Size: 20 Skill Level: Beginner

Technique(s) to be Learned: Simple piecing

It's no longer a mystery and back by popular demand. Don't miss the one you wish you would have taken in 2009. This was the mystery class for the 2008 festival and was so well received that Kathy has added it to her pattern line. Use a fun stripe fabric for the swizzle sticks, add an interesting background and coordinating prints. Pattern fee: $8.00.

#103   "Prairie Points: Ordinary and Extraordinary Embellishments" - Sharon Hovey
1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
$20.00 Class Size: 20 Skill Level: Beginner

The fabric folding techniques to create nested and overlapping prairie points will be demonstrated. A variety of design applications of this fabric folding technique will be shown and discussed. These applications will include options for quilts, wall hangings, bags and garments. A whimsical wall hanging made of fun-folded pinwheels will be made during the class. Also demonstrated will be a one piece back and binding method for your creation. This project is scrap and fat quarter friendly and can be embellished with three buttons.

#104   "Four Corners Apron" - Merry Green
1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
$20.00 Class Size: 20 Skill Level: Beginner

Technique(s) to be Learned: Straight Sewing

This square or 4 corner apron is quick-to-make and perfect for the beginning sewer but clever enough to appeal to all sewers. Selecting the coordinating fabrics is SO easy because it looks good in everything. Whether modern, cottage, Christmas, or barbecue, the apron takes on the personality of the fabric! By the way, it's very comfortable AND flattering! Adjustments in size are made by the length of the neck strap on the apron - 23" to 26" for small, medium, or large. This is a great project for those intending to give an apron as a gift-customizing it for the receiver's personality by using themed fabrics. Pattern fee $8.

#105   "Lazy, Wild and Wonderful" - Norma Lee Miller
1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and continued from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
$40.00 Class Size: 20 Skill Level: Intermediate

Technique(s) to be Learned: Lazy Angle Ruler

In this class the participants will learn how to make four different blocks using the Lazy Angle Ruler. This is a quick and easy piecing technique and none of these blocks will be difficult to construct. Each block teaches a more advanced technique for using the Lazy Angle ruler. I actually think the more advanced the blocks become the easier they are to make. Once you learn the technique of making blocks using the Lazy Angle Ruler you will be able to use it to make some awesome quilts and/or borders using this tool. The design potential with this tool is astounding. The finished size of the wall hanging will be approximately 30-inches square.
